Howdy! I was out this morning spraying thistles and dandelions in the yard with squirt bottle. Those weeds are easy to see when the grass is brown and they are still green. I sprayed dozens of them. I also located some bushes I transplanted last year and pulled the weeds that were towering over them.
While I was standing at the kitchen counter, I heard a funny noise at the family room window and saw a flash of big wings. I went to look and saw the hawk in the catalpa tree. Later, while I was doing bookwork, he bumped the window again. This time I could not see him anywhere.
After dinner Terry unloaded the rest of the teff grass bales. The red hen seemed to be enjoying walking across the top of them in the shed.
After dinner I decided to take care of some more weeds. I pulled all the burning weed I could see near the slough and found several bull thistles in the back pasture near the dugout. Then I began pulling burning weed at the rock pile. After that I pulled and cut down large burdock plants west of the big shed. It was hazardous working back there because the steers had been in there when it was wet and made very deep footprints. I was very happy to get that finished!
I don't know what this plant with the purple flowers is called. There's usually some of it around, but not lots. I like its purple color.
Scott and Nora stopped by for a short visit this evening. I was going to show Nora my step counter UP Move thing, but it was missing from my pocket. It had been fun seeing how many steps I was taking or how far I rode my bike, and now it's gone. I looked for a long time, but I had been in several areas where there was tall grass and weeds and holes, and I didn't find it.
