TEKA RANCH - WHERE THE FUN NEVER ENDS - JULY 25, 2017 - TUESDAY-
ANOTHER DAY CLOSER TO A GOOD RAIN
It was a hot, stuffy day here. After dinner I cut out all the dead wood in the forsythia bush in front of the house and then I hoed the garden. The weeds were coming fast and furious. Then I proceeded to pull the weeds from around the garden fence. The sweat just ran down my arms and face. For a treat, I told myself that when I finished weeding, I could sit and read in my new string swing. So I did and took a nap, too. I thought I had the swing at the right height, but the longer I sat in it, the more it stretched until I was almost sitting on the ground. I'll have to make some adjustments. While I was sitting in the swing, Blu came over to visit. That cat cannot be near me without putting his claws into my legs. Then he began scratching at the swing; I was afraid he'd make solid contact with my caboose!
The entire time I was outside, thunder kept thundering. There was a dark blue cloud south of here. It looked like it was coming this way, but then it stalled out and stayed down there. It looked like it was east of Clear Lake along Hwy 22. Gradually it moved to the east. I haven't heard how much rain fell or if there was a storm with it.
Later, we had a little sprinkle and the gauge shows that we have gotten .03". (Oh, and sometime during the night we got .07") We're just gonna float away.-- ha-ha-ha-ha!
The scallopini squash is going great guns and so is the yellow zucchini. There will be more than I can use.
The day lilies are in bloom.
Terry mowed small patches of weeds with the sickle mower.
